Prixan alternative: is Competiprice the right choice?

Looking for a Prixan alternative? Compare pricing, monitoring frequency, alerts, history and repricing to choose between Prixan and Competiprice.

Comparison 10 min read

Looking for a Prixan alternative? Start by defining what you want to replace. Prixan covers a broad scope, from price monitoring to automated repricing, with plans for online retailers and brands. Competiprice provides a workflow centred on URL testing, competitor price tracking, history and alerts, bringing the information used for pricing decisions into one place.

Both tools monitor online prices, but they are not interchangeable for every use case. The right choice depends less on the number of advertised features than on your catalogue, the number of competitors you track, the frequency you need and whether you want to automate price changes.

Method: this comparison is based on the official Prixan website, its plans for online retailers, its FAQ and Competiprice's public plans, accessed on 29 July 2026. Competiprice publishes this article: our aim is to explain where it may be a suitable alternative, not to claim general superiority. We did not conduct an independent accuracy benchmark using the same set of URLs. The two providers may not calculate quotas in the same way, and pricing can change.

What Prixan provides

Prixan presents itself as a competitor monitoring platform for online retailers and brands. Its website lists:

  • automated scanning of competitor websites;
  • automated matching of similar products;
  • price and availability monitoring;
  • email alerts and reports;
  • imports, exports and competitor catalogues, depending on the plan;
  • a Chrome extension and advertised connections to PrestaShop or Magento;
  • marketplace and multi-country monitoring on the Connect plan;
  • automated repricing on its most advanced plan.

Prixan's English pricing page lists 1,000 URLs tracked, one competitor and a weekly check for Free. Its FAQ says prices are updated every day while Free-plan changes are reported in a weekly summary. Paid plans start at €89 per month for Pro, with 10,000 URLs tracked, five competitors and a daily check.

This proposition is worth considering if your priorities are volume, automated matching or repricing. It may also be broader than a small team needs if it mainly wants to monitor a few strategic products and receive the advertised alerts.

Competiprice as an alternative to Prixan

Competiprice takes a more gradual approach. You can first test up to three product pages without creating an account. The free Discovery plan then lets you track five products and three competitors per product, with one daily check and seven days of history, without a bank card.

Products and URLs can be added manually, imported via CSV or retrieved from a PrestaShop store. Competiprice then collects prices, retains their history and helps identify cheaper competitors through alerts.

This approach mainly concerns online retailers that want to move away from manual monitoring without immediately introducing a repricing engine. Competiprice does not change prices automatically: the team remains responsible for pricing decisions.

Check before comparing plans: test up to 3 competitor URLs without creating an account, then activate Discovery if the detected prices match the pages tested. Test my URLs.

Note on Prixan's labels: the English pricing page uses “URLs tracked” and calls its highest tier “Connect”, while the French page uses “produits surveillés” and “Repricing”. The FAQ says prices are updated daily with a weekly summary on Free, whereas the pricing page displays “weekly check”. We reproduce these labels without treating the units or frequencies as strict equivalents.

Do not assess the quotas in isolation. "URLs tracked", "products", "competitors" and "checks" may refer to different units in each tool. Always ask how a variant, a marketplace or multiple competitor URLs count towards the quota.

At the first paid tier, Competiprice lists a subscription that is €40 per month lower. This does not mean it is cheaper for every catalogue: Prixan displays a much higher quota figure, expressed as tracked URLs on its English pricing page. Compare the cost for your actual scope, not just the entry price.

When Competiprice is a good alternative to Prixan

Competiprice is worth testing if:

  • you want to check detection on your own URLs before signing up;
  • you track several competitors across a limited number of priority products;
  • daily or several-times-daily monitoring matters more than a very large product quota;
  • your team wants competitor price alerts and price history, without automated repricing;
  • you import your catalogue via CSV or from PrestaShop;
  • you prefer to start with five products, validate the quality and then expand.

The publicly listed feature set is narrower. It may suit a small business that wants to replace manual checks while retaining control over pricing decisions.

When Prixan may remain a better fit

Keep Prixan on your shortlist if you need:

  • large-scale automated matching;
  • a Chrome extension integrated into the workflow;
  • specific monitoring for a brand and its reseller network;
  • advanced international or marketplace monitoring;
  • an automated repricing engine;
  • high listed URL quotas with weekly or daily checks.

An alternative is relevant only if it covers your central use case. Replacing a comprehensive tool with a lighter solution is of little value if you then have to rebuild matching, repricing or reporting across several files.

Test before migrating

  1. Archive your Prixan data. Export products, URLs and history before cancelling. Competiprice's public pages do not promise native import of Prixan history.
  2. Select five representative products. Include a bestseller, a promotion and a product with variants if your catalogue contains them.
  3. Test the same URLs for seven days. Use Discovery to compare up to five products and three competitors per product.
  4. Check the same elements. Record the product, variant, price, availability, promotions, missing data, delays and false alerts.
  5. Expand only after validation. Compare setup time and alert processing, then migrate the catalogue in batches.

If your catalogue runs on PrestaShop, our page on PrestaShop price monitoring explains the import process. To reduce incorrect matches, see our guide to product matching.

This protocol is more useful than a feature list. A tool with a high quota is of no value if it reads your priority pages incorrectly. Conversely, a narrower solution may be sufficient if it reliably covers the products that influence your decisions.

Frequently asked questions

Is Competiprice a direct alternative to Prixan?

Yes for competitor price monitoring, price history and alerts. Not for every use case: Competiprice does not advertise automated repricing, generalised automated matching or a dedicated plan for brands comparable to Prixan's.

Which solution is cheaper?

Both list a free plan. Competiprice's first paid plan is published at €49/month, compared with €89/month for Prixan. The advertised volumes are very different, however. The cheaper option therefore depends on the number of products, competitors and checks you actually need.

Can Competiprice change my prices automatically?

No, this feature is not advertised in the current public plans. Competiprice collects prices, stores their history and triggers alerts. The team then decides what action to take.

Can I test Competiprice without a bank card?

Yes. You can test up to three URLs before signing up, then create a free Discovery account without a bank card to track five products and three competitors per product.

Can I import a catalogue from Prixan?

Competiprice accepts manual entry, CSV and a PrestaShop connection. You can therefore transfer an inventory of products and URLs in a suitable format. Importing Prixan history is not publicly advertised; archive it and ask support for confirmation if that continuity matters.

Which tool should a brand choose to monitor its resellers?

Prixan presents a specific plan for brands, including reseller network monitoring. Competiprice can monitor reseller URLs, but its public plans are structured primarily around e-commerce price monitoring. A brand should compare the reporting, matching and network management workflows before deciding.

Conclusion

Competiprice is a relevant candidate to test for an e-commerce team that wants to check its own URLs, track several competitors per product and replace manual monitoring with the advertised alerts. Its first paid plan is listed at €49/month, compared with €89/month for Prixan, with very different quotas.

Prixan retains clear publicly listed advantages for higher listed URL quotas, automated matching, brands, the Chrome extension and repricing. If these features are central to your requirements, Competiprice is not a like-for-like replacement.

A useful test only needs a few products. Check your most important competitor pages first, review the results over several days and then choose the tool that best meets your reliability and operational criteria.
